Free Playwriting Workshop with Lisa Sanaye Dring
Join Ma-Yi Theater Company, a renowned professional Off-Broadway theater company, for a free online playwriting workshop with award-winning playwright Lisa Sanaye Dring (SUMO).
Created with Filipino American writers in mind — all are welcome — this workshop is open to anyone 18+, from total beginners to more experienced writers looking to sharpen their fundamentals. Through practice, discussion, prompts, and readings, participants will explore action, dialogue, theme, character, structure, and style while working at their own pace.
The class is designed for working adults, with evening sessions and an online format that makes it easier to fit creativity into a busy life. Writers often finish the workshop with 30–45 pages, and some leave with a full first draft.
Best of all, the workshop ends with a public staged reading of each writer’s work, featuring professional actors and directors.
