MEET TINA CHILIP!
House Rules is a dynamic dark comedy written by Labbie A. Rey Pamatmat, directed by Ralph B. Pena, and featuring the compelling Tina Chilip as Twee.
Hi Tina! We are so happy to have you be a part of House Rules. This isn’t your first time working with Ma-Yi, is it?
I was in Flipzoids in 2010. Written by Ralph Pena, directed by Loy Arcenas.
Well, we’re glad to have you back. What are you looking forward to most in this rehearsal process?
Diving in and getting to know my character. And working with all these ridiculously talented people.
We’ve got a stellar team on this play… Tell us, why should someone come see this play?
It’s a beautiful play. It’s funny and moving. The characters are wonderfully flawed and complex. And audiences will be able to identify with the different life experiences these characters are going through.
What’s your favorite game?
This play has reminded me how much I loved playing sungka growing up.
Us as well! (We keep a sungka board in our office.) Is there any game that your family makes up its own rules for?
I didn’t realize it until we were in rehearsals that my family didn’t follow the official rules of Monopoly. I think my parents simplified the game for us when we were young. We definitely didn’t do any auctioning and I can’t remember if we did any mortgaging.
Do you have any odd special skills or unusual hobbies?
What is your favorite late night snack?
Nuts and cheese.
Anything you want to say to your mom and dad?
Hi Mom and Dad, I’m in a play!
TINA CHILIP (Twee) is delighted to be back at Ma-Yi and working on another Rey Pamatmat play.
