Orlando first joined the Ma-Yi Theater family in 2002, to play the lead in Chris Millado’s “peregriNasyon,”(pictured below). He was fresh out The Juilliard School. Even then, we were already blown away by his consummate skills as a performer, combining great physicality with a deeply nuanced understanding of character.

Orlando would go on to appear in many more plays by Ma-Yi Theater, including “Middle Finder,” Watcher,” and “Savage Stage.” But it is his singular portrayal of a lovesick immigrant farm worker in “The Romance of Magno Rubio,” that is cherished by many fans of Ma-Yi Theater’s work.  For his part in that celebrated play, Orlando received his first Obie Award
